The Butterfly Storm by Kate Frost

Sophie Keech moves to Greece with Alekos, her boyfriend.  Her mother is not pleased and they part on rough waters.     When she arrives in Greece, she moves in with Alekos and his over bearing family.

Four years later Sophie gets a call that her mother has been in a motorcycle accident and rushes home to help take care of her and mend those fences.    While home she reevaluates her life and what is most important to her.

I contacted Kate Frost asking for a copy of her book to review.  As I was seeing it appear on other blogs I knew I had to read it.  I was thrilled when she quickly replied with a copy for me.    The Butterfly Storm is exactly what I had hoped it would be and more.    The descriptions of Greece and of the United Kingdom were amazing and I felt as if I was on vacation seeing what Sophie was experiencing.

One of the best parts of this novel was the changes in plots.    Many times I was reading sure that I knew what would happen next and then was shocked at the way the story unfolded.   I love being surprised in a story.    This is a quick book but definitely not a mindless story.    I was kept on my toes and enjoyed every page.

Sophie is a great character.   She knew what she wanted and went after it no matter who was telling her not to.    When in Greece she found herself standing up to Alekos mother many times and not having the support of Alekos.   At this point I knew she was going to be okay, no matter how the book ended.    She was headstrong, believable, self assured, and amazing.  That is everything I love in a character.

As a first book you never know what to expect.  There is nothing to compare it to.    I do not believe I have ever read a book like this and do not believe I will again for a long time.   I most certainly will recommend this to all my friends.

Thank you Kate Frost for honoring me with a copy of your novel.
