Monica Mann is a nurse with a boss who is out to get
her. When the opportunity arrives for
her to travel to Jamaica as a volunteer with Borderless Nurses to help with the
aftermath of a horrible earthquake and tsunami she cannot get out of town quick
enough. Shortly after her arrival she
meets Trent Fairchild. Trent is chopper
pilot that is helping get the people where they need to be to help those who
need the most help. Their friendship
grows and develops into more and they spend more time together. When they manage to get a short period of
time alone together the worse happens, an aftershock hits and traps them,
putting them in a life or death situation
This is the third book in the Not Quite series by Catherine
Bybee. Each book gets better and
better. I absolutely love Monica’s
story. Although the romance is the
main theme of the book, I loved the way both Monica and Trent’s family were
involved in the story. The support and
love, and sometimes the hard truth, the brothers, sisters, brother-in-laws all
gave were above and beyond what a family has to give.
When Monica is saved and brought home I knew that Trent
would be hot on her heals. I also knew
that their story would not just fall into place. There has to be a hiccup to overcome. I love hiccups. To work for a happy ending makes a much
better story. Monica is a tough lady,
who is not putting up with any crap from Trent. Trent has been burned and when pushed by an
outside source takes the easy way out.
Surely this could not be the end of their love story. They had to have a happy ending. I absolutely loved how Catherine Bybee wrote
it out. It kept me reading, unable to
stop.
I am already looking forward to book 4 in the Not Quite
series. I highly recommend this entire
series to all my fellow chic-lit readers.
