Let me start by saying I am not an animal person. Taking on this book pushed me to read a topic I would normally pass. I am very glad that I did not pass on this book.
Ms. Pink, not her real name, loses her husband to his mistress, then loses her job to a merger. Her pride got in the way and she refused a severance package. When her money runs out and she is forced to leave her apartment and most of her belongings behind, she finds herself homeless.
Ms. Pink struggles to find any job and starts volunteering at an animal shelter. She becomes an advocate for the dogs, an angel of sorts. She manages to find other people who are down on their luck and give them a purpose. The story tells how even when down on your luck you can make the world a better place for animals and people.
This story is an eye opening story on how when things look bad there is a silver lining to be found. Ms. Pink comments that things are better this week than last week. Her life struggles are very real to many people. Even losing her husband and high powered job are not enough to break her or keep her down.
If you are an animal lover this book is a definitely a have to read. If you are like me, not an animal lover, and are just looking for a good book to read, this book it for you.
